This assignment gave me a lot of trouble and I ended up watching or reading most of the articles. I decided to spend one of my evenings just walking around mine and my grandpa’s house. I took most of my pictures outside because I found way more photo opportunities.
I took a few pictures for the color section. I found the picture above to be my best picture for color. I played around with the saturation on the Bazaart app I have on my phone to get a little bit better picture than I originally had. This picture was taken in my grandpa’s garden. I also thought this picture could work for unity but I decided that color was a better example of color.
Minimalism & Use of Space:
I embedded both of the photos I thought best fit the minimalism category, because I liked the black and white photo better but I wanted people to see the picture in color. I thought this picture was a good representation on minimalism because the concrete table is very minimal.
I thought this picture created a great example of balance. The top of the corn creates a divide in the picture and then you have the trees at the top along with the sky and the grass at the bottom. I like how the corn cuts the picture in half and creates the divide.
For dominance I thought the three of these photos best expressed dominance. These photos all have one element that is completely dominant. I also thought that the photos of the house could have also gone with proportion or unity, but I thought they best went with dominance.
I thought this picture of corn best represented unity because all of the corn is basically the same. I like the way the corn is uniform and the rows are pretty straight- if you’ve ever seen corn from the top you know that the rows are really straight. I also like how you can see the corn starting to turn brown while still having green at the top (this is because we haven’t had rain in a while).
Here is the full album with some of the good and bad pictures that I took during the DesignBlitz.
